The countries chosen most by international students for undergraduate studies are the USA, Uk, Australia, Canada, Ireland, and New Zealand. The USA, UK, and Australia consist of most universities from the top 100 universities in the world, making them popular destinations for international students.

The application and admission procedure for international students in different countries varies. Students wanting to study for a UG degree in foreign countries should take qualifying exams like SAT, IELTS, ACT, and TOEFL. Academics, projects, and extracurricular activities also play a part in the admission process.

The number of students aiming to study abroad for a UG degree has exponentially increased due to many reasons:

  • The success rate of receiving admission at good universities with optimal infrastructure and research facilities is high as the competition is relatively low among international students.
  • The international employment rate of a student who has graduated from a reputed foreign university is enormous. The skills a candidate develops throughout their college will make them stand out.
  • The quality of education at foreign universities is advanced compared to most local colleges in India. Students need to be equipped with the proper gadgets for learning in most colleges.
  • Most Indian colleges focus solely on teaching theory. But universities abroad instruct both theory and practicals in great depth.
  • Programs like  Comic Art, Ecotechnology, Parapsychology, Entertainment Engineering and Design, Drama, Music,  Peace and conflict studies, and Energy for smart cities are, in most cases, rarely available or not available in India. Students who wish to pursue these courses should pursue higher education in foreign universities.
  • The curriculum in foreign universities contains arts and sports along with studies. In India, the curriculum doesn’t include any extracurricular activities.
  • Students can expand their network by meeting people from different educational and cultural backgrounds.

The exposure of studying abroad for a UG degree is eccentric and opens roads to various career paths at a young age. Universities abroad provide better frameworks, research facilities, higher quality education, adaptable curriculum, and extracurriculars. Making necessary changes in the Indian education system can assist in a better quality of education.
